Thank you for your interest in Inkwell Invitations!
Below you will find a list of Frequently Asked Questions from our clients. After reading through them, if there is a question that you still have, please feel free to email us at inkwellinvitations@yahoo.com. Our goal as your invitation designer is to create a very personal work of art that undeniably reflects your personality and vision. Whether you want something classic, modern, or whimsical, we will work with you to exceed your highest expectations and to create something that is distinctively yours!
Q: So how much will my invitation cost? A: All of our Invitations and Announcements are designed according to your specific needs and wishes. Therefore each piece is individually priced based on the materials, embellishments and labor involved. As a general guideline, a more basic 2 or 3 layer design with no further embellishment (embossing, ribbon, jewels or special folds), begins at $2.00 per set, which includes the corresponding envelop with return address printing. Prices increase from there depending on the complexity of the job. Together, we will design a finished product to meet your expectations and stay within your budget.
Q: How much is Shipping & Delivery? A: If you are unable to pick-up your order, it will be shipped via USPS, UPS or FedEx. Shipping costs will be added to your total. Shipping prices are flat rates based on the value of your order, which does include quality shipping materials, insurance & delivery confirmation.
$000.00 to $ 99.99 shipping is: $25.00 $100.00 to $399.99 shipping is: $30.00 $400.00 to $999.00 shipping is: $35.00 $1000 to $1499.99 shipping is: $40 Orders over $1500 ship free!
Q: Do you charge sales tax? A: Orders shipped to destinations in Kentucky are subject to applicable sales tax.
Q: What is your Return Policy? A: Due to the highly personalized nature of our work, we are unable to offer any returns, exchanges, or refunds. Once a deposit is paid to proceed, we agree that no deletions, substitutions, or changes from the original contract will be accepted once materials have been ordered or production has begun. However, additions may be possible if materials are available and if time allows. Once the final proof has been approved by the bride and/or groom, Inkwell Invitations assumes no responsibility and is not liable for any typos or misspelled words on any of the invitations or paper goods. Deposits are non-refundable and this would include forfeiture of any deposits paid in case of your event cancellation. In the event that Inkwell Invitations has to cancel production of the order, a full refund will be given. Shipping prices are non-refundable.
Q: Where are you located? Do you have a store that I can visit? A: At this time, our website is our storefront. However, we do have the luxury of having a fabulous in-home studio located in LaGrange, Kentucky. It is about 20 minutes outside of Louisville. If you live in the Greater Louisville Metro area or in any of the other surrounding areas, we can set up a convenient time to meet in person and discuss your needs. If it’s too far for us to meet in person, we can easily communicate by phone and/or email.
Q: Is there a minimum or maximum order? A: We accept orders in increments of 5 with a minimum order of 25 invitations. We do not have a maximum – as long as we have enough time and the materials are available, we can accommodate even the largest of orders. For reorders, there is a minimum order quantity of 25 invitations.
Q: How many invitations should I order? A: We recommend ordering 10-15 more than the absolute number that you know you will need. Guest lists often change at the last minute and you’ll want a keepsake set as well. Remember, based on available materials and studio time, we may not be able to add invitations in at the last minute so it’s best to be prepared. You will be supplied with several extra envelops in case of errors.
Q: When should I place my order for my wedding invitations? A: We recommend beginning the ordering process 6 months prior to your special event. We will need plenty of time to order the appropriate materials, time to approve all proofs, and then time to produce and assemble them. And don’t forget – you will still need 4-6 weeks before the event date to mail them out.
Q: What is a Digital Proof? A: If we sent you the exact word document file of your invitation to your email address, it may change the fonts if you do not have the font we used on your invitation installed on your computer. So that you can see your invitation in the exact fonts that will be used, a PDF file is necessary. We will convert our Word document into a PDF file so that all fonts are “fixed” when you preview it on your computer. You will need Acrobat Adobe reader installed on your computer to view all PDF files.
Q: What is included in my invitation package? A: The price we quote you includes the invitation you choose along with all embellishments, as well as a complimentary white or ivory envelope in the appropriate size. Return address printing is complimentary on the appropriate envelopes. You may also choose to upgrade to an almost limitless variety of envelopes or packaging at an additional cost.
Q: Which items include envelopes? A: All Invitations, Thank You Notes, and Announcements include outer envelopes to match with a return address printed on the back flap. All Response Sets include a matching self-addressed envelope.
Q: Can I use my own envelopes? A: Yes, but we recommend that you order them prior to ordering invitations from us to ensure that your invitations will fit inside the envelopes. Although we include standard envelopes in the total cost of invitations, your account will not be credited for envelopes if you decide not to use our envelopes.
Q: Will my invitations arrive fully assembled? A: Your invitations will arrive fully assembled, but will not be inside the envelopes unless you purchase that as a separate service. We offer an envelope “Stuffing” service, as well as a “Stuff and Seal” service, and a “Stuff, Seal, and Send” Service. Without the “Stuffing” service, your invitations will be shipped requiring the following assembly: 1. Inserts will need to be stuffed 2. Invitations will need to be inserted into outer envelopes 3. Stamps will need to be applied 4. Extra steps may be required for special orders. 5. We will assemble one invitation so that you will know how to finish the rest.
Q: Who assembles my invitations? A: All items ordered will be fully assembled by Inkwell Invitations. Each item(s) is individually customized and hand-assembled and no work is sub-contracted. Like a work of art, each identical invitation is slightly unique. Each invitation or coordinated item is inspected as it's made to meet our high quality standards. Prices include full assembly so that all you have to do is address, stuff, stamp and mail your invitations.
Q: I love your invitations but I don’t see exactly what I want. Can you create a design for me? A: Of course! As a free service to our customers, we can create a one-of-a-kind invitation for your special event. The cost of your invitations will depend on materials and difficulty of your vision. If you give us a general theme and ideas, we will work to create a special and unique invitation for you.
Q: Can I customize an existing design? A: Absolutely, and we encourage it! Remember these are your invitations. Maybe you like one part of one invitation and one part from another invitation - all of our work is custom so you can change any part of the invitation to fit your needs. You can change fonts, paper and cardstock colors, textures, ribbon, ink colors and embellishments. Keep in mind, if you alter a design, it may also alter the price depending on your choices.
Q: Can I order a design exactly as it appears on your website? A: If you see a particular design on our website that is perfect for your event, we will make every effort to duplicate it. However, due to ever changing paper patterns and embellishment stock from suppliers, we cannot guarantee that all supplies as they appear online will be available.
Q: What if I need an invitation in a particular color? A: Cardstock is available in every color of the rainbow and often many patterned papers come in different colors. If you find something you like, it may be very simple to switch to another color. The colors shown on our Options page is merely a small sample of what we can offer.
Q: Can you match my invitations to a color swatch? A: If you like, you may mail a color swatch to us so that we can take it with us when we go shopping for your materials. We cannot guarantee a perfect match, but we will select the color that comes closest to the sample you provide us with.
Q: Do you offer a mailing service? A: Yes, "Stuff, Seal and Send" is offered by Inkwell Invitations as a courtesy for the busy customer. All invitation sets will be assembled, stuffed, postage affixed and mailed. Please note a stamp is required for the response envelope in addition to postage for the invitation. Orders will not be sent until full payment is received. Inkwell Invitations is not responsible for any damage that may occur once an order is mailed.
Q: Do you offer invitation addressing? A: Yes, for $0.50 per invitation, we will address all invitations for you with computer calligraphy. Please type a list of your guests’ names and addresses into a Word document and email them to me. I do not accept lists that are handwritten or in a spreadsheet format. Please triple-check all names and addresses for typos and spelling errors. Inkwell Invitations assumes no responsibility for incorrect information in the list that you send us.
Q: How much postage will my invitation require? A: Many of our designs require only a first class stamp, but it is always recommended that you take an invitation to the post office to have them weighed and sized for postage. Just remember, square shaped invitations always require extra postage. And if you purchase our Seal & Send Service, we will ensure that the proper postage is affixed to your invitations.
Q: Do you provide rush services? A: If possible, we will try to accommodate you. Please discuss your requirements with us and a determination will be made whether or not we can fit you into our production schedule. If so, a $50 rush fee will apply. You can request, at no extra charge, for your envelopes to be made ahead of your invitations to give you plenty of time to address them.
